Making Sense

MakingSense takes a new approach to citizen science by co-creating technology for change together with concerned communities. We aim to explore how open source software, open source hardware, digital maker practices and open design can be effectively used by local communities; to fabricate their own sensing tools, make sense of their environments and address pressing environmental problems around air, water, soil and sound pollution.

We collect data in three locations: Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Prishtina. My work in this project focuses on data collection and visualisation of noise levels along Barcelona beachfront, as well as the contamination of the intermediate tidal zone, the in-between of water and land.
